A Blessing to Me...

Hello there!

How are you tonight?
All is well here...just cozying up with a blanket, tea and my laptop!

Just playing along with a few challenges...of course Papertrey Ink's 8th anniversary!!!!! Wow!!!
I really liked their All Things Spring Challenge...

Now, a question for all the water coloring experts...What is my issue???!!! I do not have a good technique! If there is a video I can watch, please tell me!!! If you have any tips...please share them!!!

I used PTI's Friends 'til the End and Signature Greetings stamp sets. Card stock is also PTI. I used black ink from Memento and water color pencils. The stitched rectangle die is from Lil'Inker Designs. I scattered some pearls from Recollections.

I am also playing along with City Crafter Challenge Blog... you matter
And, CAS on Sunday...flowers

I created two cards...same stamps and materials...slightly different design.

Which one do you like best?

Thanks for stopping by!
Thanks for your input!!

Michelle

I love both your cards! I've dabbled in water colors and do love the water color effect! And, I know I need lots of practice!:-) There are so many different ways with water coloring. I've watched videos from these ladies...Kristina Werner, Kylie Purtell, Jennifer McGuire, and Barbara Anders. Good luck with your water coloring! I know you'll do a great job!:-)

I was coming back because I remembered the videos on watercoloring that I liked, but Maria already mentioned them. One thing I learned was if I don't like how it's looking, I mist it again with water and let it move around some more, but that doesn't always work.

Michelle love your cards. Keep trying thats theway to get better at it. One thing I found hen watercolouring is I like to do it when I have embossed the stamped image. Embossing clear on black ink or white embossing or even gold and silver. This gives you an area to keep your colour within, a bit more control. Think of where you want the colour to be more intense and start with the colour there and just add more water to draw it out. Light is better, you can always add more colour if you feel it is too light. Really let one colour dry before you add another especially if their mixing is likely to cause it to turn muddly. Somè colours blend beautifully, others dont. Some times I prefer to wet the area I will be working in first so i use a clean brush and paint as though it is paint but itswater I am laying down. Then start adding the paint and let it spread. Hope this helps a bit

Don't be too hard on yourself. Even the experts were beginners when they started. In my opinion I think your did a fab job. I am trying out watercoloring myself. I stamp my flowers with Versamark and heat emboss them. After that you can color them. Or create stripes or cicrles as a background. Set aside to let dry and stamp on top of it. I use aquarel paper. It's pefect because it absorbs a lot of water and dries "flat"
Good luck and keep practicing! Thanks so much for joining us at CCCB!

First off, glad you joined in at CCCB with your card that definitely lets the recipient know they matter. Next, watercoloring is not for the OCD-at-heart. Gotta think of it kinda like magic. I like the wet-on-wet technique. As for a video, there are tons but I was very inspired by those from Dawn at WPlus9. She is amazing.
